Deputy Permanent Representative Bart De Wolf.

Bart De Wolf is the Deputy Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in New York since August 2025. Ambassador De Wolf has almost two decades of experience in international relations. He started his diplomatic career dealing with UN budget issues in New York and has thereafter held key diplomatic roles in Burundi, South Africa, the Belgian Permanent Representation to the EU and our headquarters in Brussels. Before coming back to the UN, he notably served as Deputy Head of Mission in Pretoria (2022-2025) and as the Diplomatic Advisor to the Belgian Minister for Development Cooperation (2020-2022).

His expertise spans migration policy, relations with Africa and the Middle East, Justice and Home Affairs, and multilateral and EU diplomacy. Bart holds Master’s Degrees in Law and in International Relations from the KU Leuven University in Belgium. A native Dutch speaker, he also speaks French, English, Spanish and some German. Bart is married and the proud father of two children.
